At Milou et Anouch, we work exclusively with Miyuki beads, Japanese glass beads renowned worldwide for their exceptional quality and incomparable precision. But what makes these tiny beads so special?

Exceptional Japanese Manufacturing

Miyuki beads are manufactured in Japan by Miyuki Co., founded in 1949 in Hiroshima. Each bead is produced with millimeter precision: their size, shape, and color are remarkably consistent, which distinguishes them from ordinary glass beads.

This consistency is essential for weaving: it allows for crisp patterns, flat surfaces, and jewelry of incomparable fineness.

Infinite Colors

Miyuki offers over 1,000 different colors, from the most classic to the most unexpected: transparent, pearlescent, metallic, matte, Picasso (marbled effect), silk (silky effect)... It is this infinite palette that allows us to create jewelry as colorful and varied as the Maroussia, Bérénice, or Tila collections.

The Different Types of Miyuki Beads

There are several formats of Miyuki beads, each adapted to a particular weaving technique:

  • Delicas: cylindrical and ultra-precise, ideal for needle weaving. These are what we use for our Maroussia woven bracelets.
  • Seed Beads (Rocaille): round and versatile, perfect for many techniques.
  • Tila: rectangular and flat, with two holes, they allow for graphic and original creations — like our Tila collection!
